We live in this world with social media. We see everyone’s life thru the screens of our phones. We assume that they have the perfect life. First thing… no life is the “perfect life”. But, WE have the power to make our lives as close to PERFECT as we want.

Something I personally struggle with is my social media platforms. My goal is to share and inspire people, show them the beautiful parts of this world that I am lucky enough to travel to, let girls know they can be powerful, influential, beautiful, strong, compassionate, humble and most important – kind. But, I want people to know it’s OK to struggle, because we all struggle. People see these photos that I share and they assume “wow, what could go wrong when she’s living the dream.” I wanna share a little secret with you: My life… the one I live, is far from perfect. Yes, it’s a dream that I get to travel and surf and make new friends around the world. That part is the dream. But I’m still a 16-year old kid who just wants to be with her family and gets lonely when she sees all of her hometown friends going out and growing up together.

Trust me, I’m not complaining because each sacrifice we make we are only gaining something which is greater. But, nobody understands that because we see these amazing photos and not the sad ones, it’s not the total story.

I guess what i’m trying to say is people need to stop living their lives vicariously thru others people’s photos. Yes, enjoy those photos! But then get up and live your life. Dreams only become a reality when we stand up and go get them. No dream is easy to accomplish that’s why it’s a dream.

Now before I go, think about someone that is living your “dream life”. What if I told you there is one difference between you and them? That difference is that they were not afraid to risk and sacrifice everything for what they really wanted. They got up, put the phone down and lived. We have this beautiful canvas called earth… draw it! LEAVE YOUR MARK and embrace all parts of the journey!

Xoxo,
Alexa
